Faux Finishes
Faux finishes are a unique and broad category of painting with a broad definition, like ”decorative painting”. Faux finishes are a type of decorative painting, but all decorative painting is not necessarily a faux finish. Suffice it to say that the definition of faux, is French for “false”. Thus if you see something on these pages that looks like wood, or log walls, stone, bricks, or leather, it really is not, it’s just fake; painted to look like those things. Walls that have that nice “old world look” were once plain white, and given a faux treatment to age them up a few centuries.
The same with the stained glass windows you see. They are not stained glass at all, only painted with special transparent and translucent paints to look just like stained glass.
